When a patient has no teeth in his mouth, all of his teeth must be replaced in order to regain his standard of living both aesthetically and functionally.
Today, the most suitable treatment method for this is implant treatment. In these cases, which we call total edentulism, it is not necessary to make a separate implant for each tooth to replace all the teeth. In cases where the patient has no teeth, we replace all the teeth by making 12-member teeth on each of them with six or eight implants in the upper jaw and four or six implants in the lower jaw. When the bone density is sufficient, it is a very easy treatment method to have all the teeth implanted.
After our patients have their implants placed in two sessions, one for one jaw and the other for the other jaw, they continue their social lives with temporary teeth made on them. In the process after the implants fuse to the bone (i.e. this process takes 2-3 months), patients use these temporary teeth. The things that should be paid attention to with temporary teeth are to consume soft foods and if the patient has a parafunction such as bruxism, which we call teeth grinding, they should definitely inform their doctor. After the period of the implants fusing with the bone (osseintegration), the production of the patients' normal aesthetic teeth begins.
The construction of aesthetic teeth takes a week or ten days, while the aesthetic teeth are being made, it is necessary to be very meticulous and to provide both the patient's function and aesthetics by replacing the vertical dimension that the patient has previously lost. Having all teeth implanted is not a scary procedure, patients go through this process very comfortably with the development of implant technology.
Our only expectation from our patients is that if they have pain, ache, abscess, excessive tooth sensitivity or bleeding gums, they should go to the dentist without fear and start treatment as soon as possible because the earlier the decision for treatment in dentistry provides the patient with a great advantage in terms of cost and time. Since tooth loss or bone loss will increase over time, it becomes a greater burden on the patient in terms of both time and cost.
