Can Implants Be Rejected by the Body? What Should Be Done If This Happens?
Implants are well tolerated and accepted by the body. It's generally uncommon for implants to be accepted by the body. No such case has been reported in the literature. When implants are lost, whether for surgical reasons or for an infection, and the implant needs to be removed, our patients often respond with the phrase "my body rejected the implant."
We don't know if our colleagues sometimes tell our patients this. But we know that implants are not rejected by the body, unless implant If it has failed, we see that it is not due to the implant, it is not due to the type of implant, we see implant losses more frequently due to some traumas during surgery, infection of that area or movement of the implant due to excessive load on the implant during chewing after the implant. These can be evaluated by our patients as the body rejecting it, but this is definitely not true.
