People who have problems with their teeth but do not prefer traditional solutions such as dentures and cannot make up their minds are wondering how the implant process is done. First of all, the patient should know that implant treatment is a treatment method in which methods that vary from person to person are used.

The patient's bone and facial structure, bone density and amount, and oral health determine the type of implant and the method of application. A personalized treatment plan is followed for each patient.

An implant is a screw-shaped titanium material that is placed inside the jawbone and is suitable for the root anatomy. It is designed to act as a tooth root. A tooth-shaped crown is placed on this screw-shaped implant as a prosthesis. This crown is usually made of zirconium or metal-supported porcelain.

How is a dental implant done?

Although dental implants generally seem like a scary procedure for our patients, patients do not feel any pain in experienced hands. Implant applications are performed in 4 different techniques, and your doctor chooses the technique that suits you best.

Method 1: The tooth is extracted in the same session as the implant and the implant is immediately placed in the root of the tooth, this is the most comfortable and practical method for both the patient and the doctor. There is no stitching, no incision, no surgical intervention is required. It is almost painless, the patient may return to their social life without even using painkillers, and if the extracted tooth is in an aesthetic area, a temporary tooth is immediately placed on it.

Method 2: The closed technique method we call Flapness is again no incision, no flap and naturally no stitching. The area where the implant will be made is opened with a tool called punch, only a groove large enough to accommodate the implant is opened and the implant is placed from that area. In this way, we avoid complications that may occur during surgery such as stitching, bleeding and pain.

Method 3: Mini Implant application is a method that we apply especially for the back teeth. There are some anatomical areas in the upper or lower jaw. The sinus area in the upper jaw, the mandibular canal in the lower jaw and the area where the lingual nerve passes. When the tooth is extracted in these areas, the bone starts to melt and the bone height decreases and it is necessary to add bone with advanced surgical methods. In order not to apply this advanced surgical method, we can use mini implants.

Method 4: Classical surgical method, in this method, a suitable incision is made in the patient's mouth in the area where the implant will be placed, the bone is clearly seen and the implant is placed there and stitched. The stitches are removed after 1 week in this method, if the bone density is low while placing the implant, a bone addition operation called bone graft is also applied together with the implant.

How to Attach a Prosthesis to an Implant?

İmplantın üzerine protez nasıl takılır? İmplant diş kökü yerine geçtiği ve kemikle kaynaşması gerektiği için bu sürede üzerine hemen kalıcı takma dişi takılmaz. The successful dentist explains how to apply an implant.

A dental implant can be applied with a very simple surgical procedure. Whether the tooth is extracted immediately or is to be used to replace a previously extracted tooth, the dental implant is placed in the jawbone with a simple procedure similar to a tooth extraction.

Application of the implant

Let's say we have extracted a tooth and we will place an implant in its place. As soon as the tooth is extracted, the implant can be easily placed in the extracted tooth space. Because the socket where the implant will be placed is ready. It doesn't matter whether it is a front tooth or a back tooth. If the socket of the extracted tooth is smooth, it is possible to place the implant there and it is a very easy process.

Let's say the implant is going to be placed in place of a previously extracted tooth, then it is necessary to open a slot for the implant in that area. There is a ready-made set of implants for this. First, the slot is prepared from thin to thick with very small burs that drill the bone. and the implant is placed. During this time, the gum can be cut and lifted. It can also be done by fully exposing the bone and seeing it. Or, a small hole is opened, which we call a closed operation, and the implant is placed through that hole and can be done without stitches. As a result, we can say that applying the implant is a simple process.

Is There Pain During Implant Application?

Is There Pain During Implant Application? One of the most curious topics about implant treatment is whether there is pain during the operation. One of the most searched topics about implants on the internet is whether there is pain during the operation. Implant and prosthesis specialist Prof. Dr. Ömer Kutay answers the question of whether there is pain during implant application:

“There is no pain during the application of implants. The most common thing patients say is, ‘you’re going to drill a hole in my bone and who knows how much it’s going to hurt?’ This is not the case. Because the amount of nerve tissue in the bone is much less than in soft gums, so bone is not a tissue that hurts that much. It is a tissue with less vitality and nerves. Therefore, opening a socket in the bone is not a painful procedure at all. We know that patients do not experience pain even on the same day after the implant placement procedure, which is done with careful application.

We know that when there is inflammation in that area and these are cleaned or when more extensive operations are performed, the pain is a little more. A scale can be given here. Let's say the most pain is 10, and the pain that will be felt after the implant will be at most 6 out of 10. We usually start the patient on an antibiotic and a painkiller one day before the implant treatment. This medication, which is started one day before, is already in the bloodstream during the implant. Thus, the pain felt after the implant is reduced to 2 out of 10, and sometimes there may be no pain at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

1When can I eat after the implant?

You should not eat for the first 2 hours, then consume soft foods.

2How many sessions are required for implantation?

Usually 2-3 sessions are sufficient (placement, control, prosthesis fitting).

3Is implant placement painful?

No, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia and there may be mild pain afterwards.

4How long does the implant treatment process take?

The surgical procedure takes 20-60 minutes and the recovery process takes 3-6 months.

5How are implants made?

A titanium screw is placed in the jawbone, and after healing, a dental prosthesis is attached.

İmplant Nasıl Yapılır?
